What is a dental implant?
An implant is a titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone beneath the gum. Once healed, it is fitted with a permanent bridge or single tooth that has been custom created specifically for you to replicate the missing tooth or teeth.
Who can get implants?
Implants require a strong and thick jawbone in order to successfully integrate.
How are implants placed?
Before setting a date for surgery, your doctor will review your medical history, provide you with a treatment plan, and may request additional imaging called a CBCT scan.
During the surgery, your doctor will place a permanent titanium screw into the jawbone and allow the bone to heal over the next few months. Once healed, you will be fitted with a permanent lab created tooth or bridge, or a removable implant supported denture.
Caring for your implants
It is important to care for your new implants with daily brushing, flossing, and routine dental visits to ensure your implants stay strong and intact for many years to come!
