What is a crown?

Also known as caps, dental crowns are placed over the part of the tooth that sits above the gum line. Crowns are typically used to strengthen severely broken down teeth, as well as to protect teeth that have received a root canal treatment.

What is a bridge?

A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth or teeth and utilizes the adjacent teeth for support.

How is a crown/bridge procedure done?

  • To place a crown, tooth structure is conservatory removed, an impression is taken, and then sent to the lab.

  • The lab will create your new tooth usually within a week.

  • At your second appointment, the crown is permanently cemented in place.

  • Much like a crown, a bridge will follow the same steps but will include a lab created tooth to occupy the space where the missing tooth was located.
